ECGC recognizes that the health and safety of its employees is tantamount to the continuing prosperity of the company, and has embarked on a Campaign for reducing injuries and illnesses at work by providing a safe working environment so far as is reasonably practicable.
As part of its campaign, ECGC observes every year World Day for Safety and Health at Work, celebrated on April 28th annually. The Company hosts a week of activities every year, all geared towards continuously raising awareness in Occupational Safety and Health among employees.
Activities for Health & Safety Week 2018 included two lecture sessions, one on health & nutrition, a presentation made by representatives from the Ministry of Health. The other lecture was a presentation by ECGC’s Operations Engineer on Basic Electrical Safety.
The highlight of the week was the annual Ossie Davy Departmental Quiz Competition. This years’ Quiz Champions came from the Accounting & Administration Department and second place winners went to the East Caribbean Rice Mill (ECRM). The week ended with the Annual Health & Safety Walk, where companies in the Campden Park community were invited to participate in a walk.
