This year’s sponsorship of the ECGC’s Schools’ Baking Competition allowed greater involvement and emphasis on the school’s aspect of the National Baking Competition (which was not held this year). Yearly, this Home Economics competition is geared towards preparation of the participants for their CXC Home Economics examinations. Held at the Kingstown Technical Institute on June 6th, 2019, ten (10) participants selected from six (6) Zones and four (4) Technical Institutes competed in the finals under the theme Throwback 40 Years #vincyindependance. After successfully preparing each dish within the two and a half hour time limit, four (4) participants emerged as winners and were presented trophies, gifts, product gift bags and certificates of participation. The ECGC’s Schools’ Baking Competition provided an excellent opportunity to showcase the talents of our Vincentian youth in Culinary Arts and allowed ECGC the occasion to connect with both students and teachers of Home Economics.
